Jan Allmon has been painting professionally for over forty years, and holds a BFA degree in art and design from Bowling Green State University. Her love for art began at an early age, growing up in Pennsylvania Dutch country. She took weekend art lessons as a child, and today still enjoys art workshops with master contemporary painters. She has taught art lessons, and was a member of the American Impressionist Society.
Jan owned art galleries in Vermont, Virginia, and Ohio. She has painted in many mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. Most recent works have been oil and acrylic paintings that combine both brush and palette knife techniques Jan states that light, texture, and movement are qualities she strives to achieve in each composition. A broad range of subject matter appeals to her, particularly gardens, grasses, and waterscapes. Sources of inspiration are always a beautiful surprise, making every day an artistic journey. Jan describes her work today as contemporary realism. Current work is available through her home studio in northern Virginia.
