Welcome Artists!

The Clarke County Historical Association (CCHA) invites artists working in a variety of media to submit applications for our juried Art at the Mill Show! 

Media accepted shall be original, non-reproducible work not previously shown at the mill. We accept:

  • 2D work with pigment, including: Acrylic-Oil-Watercolor painting, Drawing, Encaustic, Printmaking, Pastel, Mixed Media
  • 3D work both functional or non-functional including: basketry, glasswork, pottery/ceramics, sculpture, woodworking
    Due to space limitations and humidity in the Mill: No Photography or Fabric art.
  • All works that hang must be framed, finished and ready to hang with screw-eyed hooks and wire. Gallery-wrapped canvas with painted sides is allowed with wire on back. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS

NOTE: All work submitted MUST BE FOR SALE. Sales from the show help support the Clarke County Historical Association, including the Burwell-Morgan Mill. 

Our exhibition offers emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their talents and latest works.  We are committed to organizing and promoting “excellence in art” and offering a distinguished platform for all selected artists.

DIRECTIONS

How to Register - FOR NEW USERS:

  • Click the blue Register” button (link) at the top right of the screen.
  • Create an account/user profile, including a password. Keep this info for future logons.
  • Once logged in, you will see “My Application Page.”  EACH piece of artwork is a separate submission.
  • Upload your entries/images.
  • You MUST click on blue button:  COMPLETE AND VIEW ENTRY
  • Check to see that all information is accurate, and the image successfully uploaded. To resize an image, watch the video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cLfrF2x_OA.  (Cut and paste the web address.)
  • The $35 non-refundable registration fee is processed through a secure payment system using Visa or MasterCard. The fee covers up to seven (7) entries per artist of any combination of media.
  • Continue to follow instructions on this page.

How to Login - IF YOU HAVE ENTERED PREVIOUS SHOW:

  • Click on the green Login button at the top right of the screen
  • Enter your:  Email address and Password in space provided
  • Click the Login button below Password.

NOTE: If you have a problem with or can’t remember your password, click Forgot Password? and instructions will be emailed to you.

Adding Submissions

NOTE: Artists may enter up to a total of SEVEN submissions for the single registration fee of $35.00

Once you are logged in, you may begin entering your submissions by clicking on the Add New Submission button.
A screen will display with fields for each piece
Make sure you click Submit Entry Details button at bottom.
Next you will add your image file for each piece of work.

NOTE on IMAGE FILE: Juried-In work will not only be on display at the Mill, but will also be displayed in an Online Gallery. 
Make sure you submit a professional high-quality image both for jurying and for potential buyers to view your work at its best.

Submitting HIGH-QUALITY images of your artwork is absolutely essential. 

-  Image minimum length on longest side: 540px | Image maximum length on longest side: 4600px

-  Max file size images: 4 mb | Allowed File types: jpeg, png

FRAMING & SIZE

All works that hang must be framed, finished and ready to hang with screw-eyed hooks and wire.

Gallery-wrap canvas with finished/painted side and wire on back are acceptable. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS.

SIZE DIMENSIONS: Dimensions should be size of image/canvas – not framed size. 
No maximum restriction on size of work.

Selection process and artist notification:

The artistic work submitted by each artist is juried based upon the following criteria:

1.  Body of Work: How well the images represent a point of view

2.  Artistic Theme: Design, vision, creativity, originality

3.  Technical Execution: Technique, skill, degree of difficulty, mastery of materials used

SALES ALLOCATION

The Clarke County Historical Association (CCHA) is a non-profit dedicated to preserving the history of Clarke County, including the Burwell-Morgan Mill.  CCHA hosts and administers Art at the Mill.
CCHA receives 35% of the sales price of each piece, which helps fund the continued maintenance and operation of the Burwell-Morgan Mill and the Historical Association as well as the Sarah P. Trumbower Memorial Art Scholarship given annually to a Clarke County student who is pursuing a degree in art.  The artist receives 65% of the sale price.

2022 FALL SCHEDULE

ArtCall Open for Submissions: Monday, JULY 18 @ 9am

Registration Deadline: Submissions close Monday, AUGUST 8 @ midnight

Artist notified of Jury selection: by Monday, AUGUST 22

Art Drop-off & Check-In by appointment: 10-4 pm each day

  • Friday, September 9 OR
  • Saturday, September 10 OR
  • Sunday, September 11

Patrons Night: Friday, Sept 30 from 6-9pm

Show Opens: Saturday, OCTOBER 1

Artist Reception: Sunday, OCTOBER 9 from 2-5pm

Show closes: Sunday, OCTOBER 16

Art Pick-Up by appointment: 10am – 4pm each day

  • Thursday, October 20 OR
  • Friday, October 21 OR
  • Saturday, October 22

Art at the Mill will be open 7 days a week beginning Saturday, Oct 1 through Sunday, Oct 16 during the following hours:

  • Sundays through Fridays 12-5 pm
  • Saturdays 10 am-5 pm

Any artwork unclaimed after thirty (30) days following the conclusion of Art Pick-Up will become the property of the Clarke County Historical Association (CCHA).
